Breaking the Rules

Place Taken: My home studio

Picture Motivation:  Photographing a Gay Marriage seemed like the perfect topic for "Breaking the Rules of Convention". It also shows defiance in the face of our American Culture about wedding customs; one man in a bridal veil holding a pretty bouquet and wearing a huge pearl and diamond wedding ring...the other with a long blonde "braided switch" that is obviously not his own hair against the typical wedding tuxedo. These two were all about making up their own rules!

Camera & Settings
I
used a Nikon D200 with a 24-85mm zoom lens. We were not allowed to use flash; so I set the ISO to 1600, zoomed down to 24 mm and shot in RAW.
1/100, f/5. At home, I could then make some small adjustments to the white balance and exposure. Then I cropped it to bring the action closer within the picture frame.
Camera & Settings
Camera: Canon A1
Fuji 100 Negative Film
A Slow shutter speed, panning, and zooming during the exposure created this effect.
Camera & Settings

Turkish House
The picture is of a house dug out of the mound of volcanic rock in the Cappadocia area in Turkey. The rock is quite soft and easily worked. The exterior of the house is as nature made it. People can no longer live in this type of house in Turkey because they are easily knocked down by earthquakes.
Cuban Garage
The picture was taken on a quiet street in Havana, Cuba. Most cars are old models in Cuba and this one was np exception.
