Camera Club of Brevard (CCB)
Exhibiting Photographs with the

Brevard Cultural Alliance
(BCA) “Arts in Public Places”
The CCB has made arrangements with BCA to participate as a club in the "Arts in Public Places" program. Pictures are accepted for display through a BCA jury process.

Steps for club members

  1. CCB will make announcements through f-stop and club meetings about “Art in Public Places” for CCB members to exhibit photographs as a club (group).
  2. Bring your pictures to the club, matted, framed and with hanging wire. This should be some of your best work.
  3. Pictures will be received at the July and August club meetings.
  4. Your name, picture title, and sales price (if for sale) must be attached to the back of the picture. You may use the CCB cards; they will be available at meetings. With each framed work, a 5x7 printed photograph or electronic picture file (about 1200x1600 pixels) must be submitted on CD or by e-mail (hermannandlib@gmail.com). This enables the club to meet a BCA "work bank" requirement.
  5. Each artist must sign a release of liability for BCA (details to be announced later).

Time frame for exhibiting

  1. CCB will handle your pictures throughout the entire BCA process. This includes the jury process, transport to exhibit sites, sale of pictures and returning pictures or moneys to you.
  2. The length of the exhibit is four months. Pictures cannot be withdrawn after the approval process. BCA may request for the pictures to be exhibited longer - another 4 months.
  3. At conclusion of exhibit, Hermann or Lib Schiefner will contact each participating member regarding method of return.
  4. Please note, the time frame from bringing picture to the club to being returned to you may be six to eight months, or even longer, depending on how soon after approval and for how long BCA will hang them.

Other points of Interest

  1. BCA will not attach price tags; only information stating whether the picture is for sale or not for sale will be on the picture. Potential buyer will contact BCA for the price.
  2. BCA will contact CCB to conclude the sale.
  3. BCA may hang another approved photograph at that spot.

BCA “tips” for having art work juried and accepted into “Arts in Public Places” Program

  1. Judges seem to favor larger artwork. Larger photographs will have a greater impact on judges.
  2. Smaller pictures (i.e. 8x10 photos matted and framed) are often lost on larger walls.
  3. Narrow black frames seem to be liked by the BCA judges.
  4. BCA says nature pictures, flowers, fauna, and also still life are popular.
  5. B/W photographs are not submitted very often, but BCA says they are very popular when they are submitted.
  6. Guidelines for photographs: no identifiable people unless you have a model release, no mature, controversial or vulgar themes.

 Other notes

  1. The dates, procedures, and time frames for “Art in Public Places” are firm and can not be varied.  Therefore, the CCB dates, procedures, and time frames can not be varied.
  2. This is a great opportunity to have your best photographs exhibited in Brevard County
This is an opportunity for the camera club to receive lots of great publicity.
